When I took possesion of my house the contractor told me not to touch the system and if it needed work to call the plumber. I have read all the posts here and hope I have better luck with my repairs and maintenance. I have a hi eff forced air furnace because we have winter's of -20 or more on a regular basis. I use the boiler for hat water and to heat the basement floor. Monday May 6 it f09'd and shut down and won't heat water. It has had 3 f09's since then and cleared up on it's own. It started to occasionly pump warm water(not hot) and then clear up. In Dec it start to show signs of problems. The home owner said it had been installed three years before and never serviced and it had worked fine since. My Munchkin t80m has worked error free for 6 years. The contractor had inherited the customer from someone else so no history. I figured it had never been in place, no clue why it ran before. The contractor was confused as he had not taken the gas valve off the venturi. Checked and adjusted the gas, shut it off and on a 5-6 times and it fired every time. Sealed it with silicone and put it all back together, and it fired up. I didn't have a gasket, but we had silicone. Looking closer I could see dust trails where the gasket was suppose to be. We looked on the floor thinking it had fallen out and I dropped it, but we didn't see it. Everything looked good, but I looked in the manual and there was supposed to be a gasket between the gas valve and venturi and there was not one. Some times the venturi will crap out as they are plastic on some boilers. I kind of gave up and just started dismantling the gas valve from the air intake and the venturi. We even pulled the air intake and the exhaust and tried running it with the same result. I could see a split second flash of blue flame, then nothing, so it was getting gas and air. I see nothing wrong, i could see it was just cleaned, screw it together and try fire it up. I get out there and pull the burner open, he had just cleaned it and claims it ran before he got there. I told him I could run out and see if i had any insight. He had gone out just to service and clean it, and he had worked on it for two days, many calls to factory support and the it just would not light. When I worked in outside sales for a wholesaler a contractor called and he was having trouble with a European based burner like so many of these boilers are built around.
