Foster grandparents volunteer their time to help children who are being abused or uncared for by their mothers, help troubled teenagers and young mothers care for premature infants and children with disabilities. Foster grandparents offer one-on-one, daily attention that helps young people grow, gain self confidence, and become productive members of society.

![]() Telephone Reassurance Program
The Telephone Reassurance Program recruits volunteers from the community, senior centers, and other volunteer programs to place daily reassuring telephone calls to older adults within Prince George's County. The goal of the program is to eliminate some of the concerns facing homebound seniors who live alone, thereby reducing social isolation. The program provides the opportunity for senior citizens to connect by telephone with a friendly voice. This allows homebound individuals to stay in contact with their community. thus helping to decrease the feelings of loneliness and isolation. The program also provides added peace of mind for relatives who live out of town.
